I am a professional wildlife photographer, lecturer & author. Since 1970 I have travelled the world in search of subjects to photograph, my pictures regularly appearing in wildlife magazines, books and television.
In 1978 I gained my Fellowship of The Royal Photographic Society (FRPS) and served on the Licentiateship panel for 14 years. I was also Chairman of the Royal Photographic Societies Nature Group from 1981 to 1983 and am currently President of the Berkshire Ornithological Club. I was a tour leader for Abercrombie and Kent taking groups to Florida, Kenya and Tanzania.
Along with Dr Mike Hill I co-authored the Collins Field Guide to Photographing Birds in Britain and Europe (1987) and have made a one hour video on Photographing Birds for the RSPB (1996).I have also co-authored the Birds of Islay with Dr Malcolm Ogilvie (2006) and together our new book entitled Wildlife of the Hebrides is due for publication in 2009.
My favourite subjects have always been birds and I specialize in action and behaviour shots, however I was runner-up in the BBC wildlife photographer of the year competition with a picture of a stoat! I currently have 12 lectures from North America, Africa, Europe and Scandinavia (see lectures for more information).
